Nice Idea

Marc Bolan t-shirt
Worn By take classic t-shirts, as worn by pop and rockstars (and presumably no longer available) and recreate them. Thus if you’ve ever wanted the Raleigh Grifter shirt worn by Marc Bolan, or the infamous Who The Fuck Is Mick Jagger ? shirt worn by Mick Jagger, then you’ll be laughing. So far, I’d say, the t-shirts are too obscure to be recognised by anyone except uber-fans, and none of them appeal to me in their own right, but I’ll definitely check back to what new ones they add.

Bizarre Brand Hook-up

Stussy Viz t-shirt
Apparently this is not a belated April Fool’s joke. To celebrate their respective 25th birthday’s British ‘not as funny as it used to be but still pretty good’ gutter humour comic Viz and American ‘not as good as it used to be but still pretty good skatewear label’ Stussy have hooked up with a line collaborative t-shirts. They’re not fantastic (I’m not a fan of the plain white tee with a logo on) but I have to admit to being a little tempted by the one with Big Vern spraying the Stussy logo in bullet holes. This place is stocking them.

More Fashion News From Brick Lane

Could be good, could be crap. Designer Sales are holding a Sample Sale this weekend (Fri 3rd – Sun 5th) at Studio 95 on Brick Lane. The flyer claims they’ll have stuff from Fake London, Duffer and YMC amongst many others, although I haven’t been so it could actually be stuff from Cromwell’s Madhouse for all I know. £2 admission.

Sefton in Upper Street

Sefton in Upper Street, Islington is a menswear shop with labels like You Must Create, John Smedley & Comme des Garcons. They also have their own range of very colourful socks which would make excellent presents (as they are so smartly wrapped and boxed).

Grumpy Robots

Grump Robots t-shirt
Rather like this t-shirt featuring some Marvin-esque grumpy robots from Zeroboutique. Note to the webmaster of that site: if you need to have 10 point instructions on how to select a shirt – something’s too complicated.

6876 Anorak
Perusing the shops of Covent Garden on Saturday it seemed that the anorak/cagoule/windcheater is back. Out has gone the high-tech, gore-tex, extreme rambler look, replaced by a more retro, classic style. 6876 have gone for the full blown, yellow, Souwester look (see above) but cut it in a nice causal shape that looks surprisingly smart. Boxfresh have gone for a more, murky, almost camoflague look, however best of all is the ever reliable Penguin. Navy blue with white piping (unfortunately no images online) it’s the kind of thing that would have got you beaten up at school admittedly. Now however, combined with a short-sleeve check shirt, it rocks a preppy Happy Days look. Available in Urban Outfitters, Covent Garden

Serge having a fag
You probably need to look like our Gallic friend here to pull this off, but Zara have great doublebreasted trenchcoats at the moment for a mere £40 (epaulettes and belt included, Gallois and Jane Birkin not)

My latest purchase – a tank top

After eyeing the Pringle jumpers, I opted for a similar diamond design, but cheaper and in my opinion much better 😉 , an Abercrombie “Algonquin” tank top from EBay.

Pringle Of Scotland

Pringle Of Scotland have a good selection of jumpers & polo shirts. Their classic diamond print jumpers are around £95, plain polos are around £40.

They also currently sell a rather overpriced (£120) diamond print polo-shirt that is in the current Esquire magazine.

I can also confirm that their Bond Street flagship store is mainly populated by Japanese girls.
