Saw this t-shirt in Soho the other day, which made me laugh.
Just tried on a pair of these in Terra Plana (reduced from 80 to 50 quid). Probably one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever tried on – but unfortunately they only had them left in biege in my size and had the look of fur-lined slippers on me.
Unfortunately I now have officially too many Howies items*, but if you don’t why not check out their new collection hot off the press.
*Although, I reserve the right to buy the Custard Big Buck shirt at some point.
Despite the unseasonally warm weather, there are still a few clues that Autumn is upon us; it’s getting darker earlier, All Bar One is advertising for Christmas parties and the new Howies catalogue has dropped through my door. I’m quite tempted by their “Birdie” gloves which look rather snug and warm, as do their flannel “Big Buck” shirts. Lumberjack-tastic.
Brown Summery Suit from the Muji sale. Trousers £19, jacket £29. Splashed out and bought a nice, unreduced white, patterned shirt for £25.
Someone at the Sunday Time Style supplement obviously reads Fancydan, as they too have picked up on Aussie Bum pants calling them “the next big thing in men’s pants”. Their article did also remind me, that if you’re a fan of the brief, you can’t beat American Apparel’s no-nonsense, Baby Rib briefs in a multitude of colours. Plus, as usual for them, you know they’re sweat shop free.
I also recently discovered the Canadian brand Ginch Gonch. Maybe a little bit bright for me, their pants and briefs have a retro 70s look, featuring bright colours and designs like fire-engines, hot-dogs or speeding motorbikes. Online, they’re available from www.iwantpants.com, a site who put all their effort into getting a great domain name and none into making their site work with non Internet Explorer browsers. Offline, you can find them in Prowler, Soho
While I’m sure there are bargains to be had at the Silas Sample Sale this week, am I the only person getting hacked off that fashion companies think it’s ok to charge admission to these things ?
My favourite underwear at the moment comes from Aussiebum. Don’t be put off by their “The Chippendales Go Down Under” branding, their pants are soft, keep their shape and come in some striking patterns and colours. I can particular recommend their Tutti Frutt trunks.
Available in the UK from Selfridges and Pussy Boutique
I’ve mentioned Howies outdoorsy, organic cotton, casual label before here, but they’ve just brought out their new range for the summer. Currently begging for my attention are their Buzz striped polo above (great colours) and their brown and orange “Ride Like The Wind. Be Home For Tea” sweatshirt (you may need to be a cyclist to fully appreciate that one)
