JOHNSON TRIPLE VELCRO TAN LEATHER from Office
Just tried on a pair of these in Terra Plana (reduced from 80 to 50 quid). Probably one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever tried on – but unfortunately they only had them left in biege in my size and had the look of fur-lined slippers on me.
A short walk down Oxford Street revealed two prospective purchases; Aldo have a well priced range of comfortable attractive shoes (I like these) and Urban Outfitters, despite having a rubbish sale, have the best choice of cheap sunglasses (the over-large Aviator style seems to be popular at the moment, which suits someone with a large head such as myself).

Selfridges are currently having a very large sale.
Items available include Gieves & Hawkes shirts reduced from £79 to £59 for the merchant banker in your life and lots of reductions on Duffer of St George amongst many others. Unfortunately the Nigel Hall tank top I bought wasn’t reduced.
I was quite keen on the Ralph Lauren & Le Tigre polo shirts, but they were full price (£49).
There is also the largest amount of foul near-day-glo Ralph Lauren shirts I’ve ever seen in one place before.
If you like Birkenstock’s funky sandals check out this German ebay supplier. They carry end-of-lines for a fraction of the UK price, delivered in 5 days. Whatever you do. don’t buy their trainers though, they ming.
Seeing James latest purchase, reminded me that Nike have just re-issued what were once my favourite trainers, the Nike Mowabb. .
Nicely rave-tastic purple and orange colour scheme going on there, which no doubt appealed to my EMF-listening self in 1993. Nowadays though, it’s hard to imagine a scenario which would allow me, trainers and dignity to remain in close proximity. Some things are best left in 1993.
I decided to take the plunge and buy a pair of velcro (yes velcro, the same velcro that if you wore at school it was claimed you were too thick to tie up laces) trainers last weekend from Office: Nike Court Tradition. Make sure you get the “curry” colour, and not the ultra-chav white.
