While I’m sure there are bargains to be had at the Silas Sample Sale this week, am I the only person getting hacked off that fashion companies think it’s ok to charge admission to these things ?

Summer sales in London are on now, I noticed Selfridges and Gap (and bought a nice soft white leather belt for £10) on a trip up Oxford Street and have just received an email from Urban Outfitters to say that their sale has started (unfortunately it appears to be the worst sale in London).
EDIT 29/06/06: Sales are everywhere now, there is a list in the current issue of Time Out… I have just bought a shirt I had my eye on in Paul Smith that was reduced from £130 to £91.
The Liberty Sale starts this Thursday (June 29th). Or Wednesday evening for cardholders.
EDIT 29/06/06: I went to the cardholder special event – being a cardholder is obviously not as exclusive as I first thought absolutely heaving with shopping-mad ladies – like an upmarket jumble sale! I’d advise waiting for it to calm down a bit.
My favourite underwear at the moment comes from Aussiebum. Don’t be put off by their “The Chippendales Go Down Under” branding, their pants are soft, keep their shape and come in some striking patterns and colours. I can particular recommend their Tutti Frutt trunks.
Available in the UK from Selfridges and Pussy Boutique
sthlmstil.se – stop random swedes, find out what they’re wearing.
I’ve mentioned Howies outdoorsy, organic cotton, casual label before here, but they’ve just brought out their new range for the summer. Currently begging for my attention are their Buzz striped polo above (great colours) and their brown and orange “Ride Like The Wind. Be Home For Tea” sweatshirt (you may need to be a cyclist to fully appreciate that one)
StyleHive – Social bookmarking for the product and shopping obsessed. Came across this whilst searching for the Astrodea. More women’s fashion than men’s from what I can tell
U-Boat, an Italian manufacturer of very large (50mm diameter face) watches have released some new automatic watches in their range, considerably more expensive than the old quartz movement ones (of which I own one).
They’re available from WatchUSeek (eventually), but not cheaply. I like the Flightdeck 50 (pictured) & Flightdeck 55 (55mm face!) in anodized steel which work out at 2100 and 2300 Euros respectively.
(Yes, I know this is turning into The Large Watch Blog, but tough).
If you’re a fan of Ted Baker (mens or womenswear), get down to the Camden Centre, Bidborough Street today or tomorrow for their sample sale.Nice to see that it even opens at 8am, for those who want to get their bargains before work.
EDIT: just noticed this is the #2 hit on google for “Ted Baker Sample Sale”… this refers to a sale a long while back now… I suggest you check the London newspapers (Metro, Evening Standard, etc) if you want to find out about forthcoming sample sales.
